Illinois follows federal OSHA standards for hazard communication. The rule that mandates a written hazard communication program, SDS library, and employee training is 29 CFR 1926.59 / 1910.1200.
Enforcing agency
Federal OSHA — Region V (public sector covered by IL OSHA) enforces these rules. They inspect private sector workplaces and cover public sector employees through IL OSHA. They coordinate with federal OSHA on enforcement and citation authority.
